Profile
On Stage Audio provides audio and technical management for corporate industrial shows and special events for such clients as The National Basketball Association, General Motors, and McDonald's. Offices in Chicago, Orlando, Detroit, and Las Vegas support customer events around the world.

Challenge
OSA started with a single office in Chicago , but quickly added three locations. The company had created a Wide Area Network for its data needs but the existing phone systems were not integrated. “As we grew, our phone system became inefficient,” said Mike Solomon, Director of Operations. “ We needed to work as one company instead of four independent offices. Also, the company was spending a lot of time and money on calls between offices. The company had standardized on Compaq Servers for our data needs, and we were hoping to leverage current technology to solve our communication issues.”

Another challenge OSA faced was that nearly 75% of its employee's travel. “We needed a way to improve the ease and speed at which our staff could respond to our customers,” said Solomon. “Our employees needed a solution that would allow them to be proactive instead of constantly calling in to see if they had any messages.”

Solution
OSA turned to Dennis Suglich of Chicago based MAS Consulting, Inc. MAS is a value added reseller that has been providing technical consulting and project management for 13 years and is also AltiGen and Compaq authorized. “Our reputation is extremely important and we are very selective in the products we choose'” said Suglich. “AltiGen and Compaq provide the value and quality our customers expect.” Dennis determined that the AltiGen solution in conjunction with Compaq Proliant servers would allow OSA to achieve their goal of unifying their offices and improving their employee's ability to communicate with customers. “We standardized on Compaq”, said OSA IT Director Ivan Antich, “because they offer the best warranty, performance and overall product. The relationship between Compaq and AltiGen allowed us to leverage that decision.”

Suglich implemented AltiGen's Voice over IP across the company's DSL connections to unify the systems. “By connecting the four systems we are able to call anyone at any location simply by dialing their extension,” said Solomon. “This not only decreased long distance costs, it also improved efficiency by eliminating the need to remember which employee was at which office. The company was now beginning to act as a single unit.”

The second step was to enable features for the travelling workers. OSA has taken advantage of AltiGen's One Number Access feature that allows the system to find someone at up to four numbers. They are also using message notification and the “Zoomerang” feature's ability to return calls from within voice mail. “These advanced features make it seamless to our clients regardless of where in the world our employees might be or even if they are working out of another office. All they need to do is dial their extension and they reach them. If they need to leave a message, the employee is notified and immediately able to return the call by pressing one key.”

Summary
On Stage Audio has unified offices, increased employee productivity and greatly improved its ability to provide responsive service for customers. The AltiGen solution paired with Compaq ProLiant servers allowed the company to leverage current technology on a platform that was already its standard. “We are very happy with our system, “ said Solomon. “It has exceeded our expectations.”
